On Saturday I went to Balboa for some location scouting regarding my group project. Since we're doing a silent film, I took photos in black & white. That's downtown in the distance, and I think my phone would have been great for the silent film--only issue is, don't have enough memory in it, haha.

I do have to note that my enemy high school was actually having prom that night there! Odd coincidences, but that was a super neat part of the late night park experience. It's beautiful at night, if a bit lonely. Like something lurking in the dark.
Let it be absolutely noted that for mother's day, I did not expect to end up in my hometown, but I did. Jet lag on my mother's part led to a disorienting series of events, but we managed to make do with it!

Got to reunite with my sisters, which was absolutely one of the greatest things. <3

I'm touched that my sister put up a mirror in my room. <3 She loves me so & I love her ! I plan to decorate it with flowers to match the room a bit more, but that's a summer project, as is all the other decorating & reorganizing I have to do. Oh, boy, that's a lot to think about.

We had Pat & Oscars as a sort of random dinner, but that's fine, at least the breadsticks were absolutely outstanding. You can never not enjoy breadsticks, which is something I've learned is a vital part of my life.

On Monday I had lunch with my professor, something grand given it was because me & a few other classmates got perfect scores on our midterms. See, y'all? Opinions do count for something! Our short essays depended on opinions, and that was what made the midterms succeed as well as they had.

I learned a bit about faculty cliques at lunch, glimpsed a rare peek at the chancellor, learned about my professor's own scattered history all over the world, and even learned a bit about my fellow classmates, such as learning one's from Harbin, which is a place I have always wanted to visit. We got to take desserts back with us, too. ;)

Now that my midterm's done & over with for my science & religion class, I now have time to catch up on the readings for my other classes, namely Securing Paradise by Dr. Gonzalez, who actually gave a short talk today at the Cross-Cultural Center. Something I learned: don't be afraid to go alone to these sorts of lectures--they are incredibly interesting and you learn a little bit more about faculty and their research. You also hear stories of things that couldn't make it into the book, which helps give a more nuanced perspective towards what they learned beyond the text.

Because of the approaching summer the sun's been staying out just a little bit longer, which helps on my evening walks home. I'd rather not get run over by cars, y'know, I have reflectors on my backpack but they don't help much. Protip: do get reflective clothing if you have an evening class, you never know if it'll save your life.

And believe me, I'll write another post on UCSD once I'm fully out of school. Probably a Things I'll Miss/Things I Didn't Take Advantage Enough Of post. I'll have enough time during summer, but for now I've got to put all I have into this final quarter here!

Keep living. <3

Yours Sincerely,

Dianne
