3.02.2017

I paused from an assignment I was reading, although at the same time I wish I hadn't, because I stopped in the middle of a chapter where I was learning about an affair. Everything unfolds so fast with dialogue-based serializations, but that's the joy of writing!

Although I'm behind on scrapbooking, I'm taking a leisurely pace in catching up with all of 2016, namely because if I stress over catching up, it'll start to feel more like a chore. Given that scrapbooking is a hobby meant to reduce stress for me, I try to avoid that as much as possible.

2016 Year Start Spread -- I call it 'Pink Gold Peach'

What relieves me the most about starting a New Year might be the fact that 2016 was the year I decided to start Project Life. I've learned a lot about my personal style and what I wanted to accomplish with scrapbooking, namely things concerning journaling and the like.

My 2016 word of the year was 'Golden', in reference to Ponyboy and all the darling chaos surrounding youth. And you know what? Despite the horrendous stream of events that happened in 2016, it was the start of returning back to the practice of getting to know myself, and that's helped me in the long run.

A Closer Look

Promising myself I would have at least one golden embellishment within every weekly layout, I used a translucent princess-themed washi with the 2016 start spread. I got it from a vendor at Anime Expo, specifically after a whole evening questioning if I really wanted to spend $10 to get a pack of three with it in it (I did), and I don't regret the purchase.

The project life cards & embellishments stem from various collections within Becky Higgins. I noticed almost immediately that even if I didn't necessarily like everything involved in a set, there could always be some way to compromise with certain pieces.

The cherry blossom sticker stems from a small set of Japanese stickers and I absolutely adore them. Paper confetti is from Paper Source's New Years confetti set. :)

A Project Life spread I would like to title 'Inside Jokes, Inside Our Hearts'

For sure, the best part about New Years is the company you spend it with. I've had the pleasure of spending it with the same people for a handful of years now, and unless circumstances change I would love to continue. Of course, we don't really know what the world holds for us, so I won't make promises, but I will extend that hope.

This December 31st, 2015 spread is dedicated to inside jokes about Good Omens, Tsuritama, as well as general shenanigans that arise via quotes taken out of context.

I love this generic but loving embellishment that I bought in a dollar store set.
Absolutely charming, quintessentially a great aesthetic.

I promised myself that I would try and journal as much as I could, which is difficult when your handwriting is half-chickenscratch and half-cursive. I'm honored to love the pens that I do, and I honestly have a preference for thinner ballpoint lengths for the sake of matching my tiny handwriting.

Thank you, blessed pens. You've gone through so much with me, and I lament every time I run out of one.

New Year, New Selfies

A spread like this can only be titled 'Out of Context & Into the New Year'.
I notably make up these names on the spot, as scrapbook spreads
should always be spontaneous and planned all at once.

The floral washi is from Paper Source, and is one of my all-time favorites, and the wax seal is one I made from a wax seal Anna so generously gifted me ages ago. I appreciate the soft simplicity of this card. The flood of floral helps.

I'm honored to start pocket scrapbooking, and while I do struggle for inspiration at times, I have a nice Pinterest board dedicated to inspirations all across the web. Check it out if you're interested--Pinterest is a beloved classic, and I'm thankful for its influence.

Yours Sincerely,

Dianne
