A Brand New Month (That I Have Seen Over & Over)
Welcome back, February! I've seen you for what, 22 years as of yesterday? February has a gorgeous color scheme--pinks & reds & the passion of Black History Month. Yesterday I attended this wonderful and thought-provoking panel on the history of student activism at my university, and there's an accompanying art exhibit, Tell Us How UC It: A Living Archive, produced by the absolutely lovely Tamara Rhodes and her circle of prejudice-fighting librarians. If you're in the area please go and see it! It'll be up for this month and March, with circulating artworks by the dozens of students who submitted pieces to the exhibit.
I spent the first of February in these hues of passion, buying a few things from the vendor fair and enjoying the day in general. :)
My main purchase was this lovely beanie on sale from Krochet Kids. Click to read their statement of purpose that involves using crochet to help break the cycle of poverty.
After that I headed to the library, as all students who have responsibilities do. I ate a nice snack under a familiar view of Geisel, and I won't hesitate to mention I got a little teary-eyed thinking of how much I'll miss these views when I graduate. Ahhh now I'm sad. But I had a really wholesome time here, and I don't regret working hard to get the chance to learn at this mini city.
Being a senior means being ridiculously aware of how good you had something, and how much you'll yearn for it after you're gone. Speaking of which, if you have a library, please love it and cherish it and treasure it as much as I have with mine--moreso, even. There are so many events and opportunities you'll be able to grasp from the library, and there are countless resources at your disposal. This is especially vital in our current climate.
Ah, Dolce Monachelli's. How I will miss you so. How I'll miss splurging on multiple cakes at once during the vendor fairs that take place during the middle of each quarter. Beyond the grease is absolute deliciousness and splendor. As one of my favorite reviews once said, it is the epitome of things that are desired.
February's layout comes equipped with the aforementioned color scheme, as well as various washi tapes from my collection. The donut washi is from a Target I visited in Las Vegas, and the floral one is from Paper Source. As for the ice cream one, that is from Uchuu Summer, and I enjoy it so much.
Since January was an overwhelming month mentally, I decided to give myself a little reminder in-between the washi. Resist, Recharge, Repeat, the endless cycle of activists.
In the corner I have my top ten media to absorb for the month, and I can't wait to work on this list.
I doodled a little space scene, and in my tiny handwriting I wrote In space we must fight fascism. Next to it is my characteristic drawing of an iris, created in the loopy & specific style of the iris I have always known to love. (Facts: my favorite flower is an iris, and it means so much to me.)
Really, I hope you all find some (?) inspiration to dedicate yourself to the nice world of organized planning--my planner's really helped me keep track of deadlines and midterms, the latter of which I must go study for now. Thanks so much for reading!
Remember, keep loving.
Yours Sincerely,
Dianne
