August Favorites 2015
Oh, August. That month when summer starts for kids K-12. That month when the heat proves absolutely abysmal and we discover what it's like to live right next to the sun. August--all of this, and so much more.
As you can see, I can't forgive August for a lot of things. Especially since it gets replaced by September, the month where I have to go back to school. Summer's gone for some, summer's dwindling for me, so let's just try and tolerate this heat for what it is: weather.

☆ August Favorites ☆
I will note here that I have multiple favorites for various categories. Favorites, in my case, are chosen for the feelings they evoke. Amongst other things.
Media
- I did see the cult classic Heathers, the 1988 film dedicated to teenagers doing what they do best: murder.
- sidenote: there was a lot of really great cinematography! The neon colors during the dream scenes. The iconic symbol of the red scrunchie.
- speaking of teenagers, check out The Sisterhood of Night, starring Georgie Henley. It's... a niche film, that's for sure, but it also had nice cinematography. Also, Henley wears a ring that I own, which is A+++
- the ongoing theme here seems to be teenagers, which is why I have to mention Unfriended, a social media thriller I watched with Hazelle during a sleepover. Imagine a ghost putting a virus into your computer in order to haunt you--the virus part alone is terrifying.
- fact: Hazelle & I didn't identify with this movie at all. Everything in this movie could have been avoided if they hadn't been assholes. But since we watch horror movies to critique them, it deserves a spot on my August Favorites. (lmao the idea of a ghost virus scared me so much I was like. Hazelle pls don't leave me I don't trust this movie anymore
she left me but that's b/c she's not fond of gore) - Music-wise I found soooo many things to love. City of Orphans & The Precipice (both by the Classic Crime) have been on repeat for the entire month. Now, this is because of writing, but it's because I love the Classic Crime, too. They're like, in my Top 5. Bless you & your music, Classic Crime.
- I'm still playing both Mario Kart 8 & Animal Crossing: New Leaf. I'll play them until the day I die tbh, so honorable mentions there.
Other People's Words Works
- Shoutout to Shatter Me for being an entertaining read! It was quick for me, and you can read my review of it here (which, I'll admit, is less about summarizing plot and more about me talking about its components).
- holy shit just look at this beautiful celestial viking art
- Honey Thistle Designs just knows how to make gorgeous jewelry.
Everyone is just so talented and I'm glad I'm sharing the world with all of them.
Anyways--thanks, August, for a wild ride. See you next year.
Love,
Dianne
